THE LITTLE DEATH
each night a part of me dies

I embrace it
caress it with my fingers
whisper sweet nothings

I lose myself
in the game

the symphonies playing
in my head

the crescendo sets in
louder and louder

and then there’s nothing

only silence

each night a part of me dies
but it is never enough
